Bear Development is proposing a seven-story apartment building with 223 income-restricted units at 501 E. Washington Ave. The plan involves demolishing the current Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce headquarters, with construction aimed to begin by late 2025 and completion by 2027. Featuring rent- and income-restricted housing targeted at 50% to 80% of area median income, this project could significantly expand affordable housing options in the heart of Madison.
