Bear Development to Launch 140-Unit Affordable Housing Project

Bear Development LLC is gearing up to build a 140-unit apartment community with 3,700 square feet of commercial space at 100 E. National Ave. in Milwaukee’s Harbor District.
This $54.6 million project, benefiting from federal affordable housing tax credits received in 2023, will offer most apartments at below-market rents targeted at individuals earning no more than 80% of the local median income. The proposal includes creating a tax incremental financing district to support the development with $2.17 million funded by property tax revenue.
Pending approvals, construction is scheduled to start by the end of August 2023 and complete by May 2026.
